Speak Up, Speak English: Our School’s Exciting Program for a Global Future

In today’s world, learning English is essential for students, as it opens doors to global opportunities and helps them communicate effectively in a variety of settings. To support this, our school has been doing many activities to make English as a part of everyday life.

Starting February 12th, 2025, our elementary school continues the English Program by making Wednesday as an “English Day”. So, during that day, all members of the school has to communicate using English. Each class is going to select one student to be the “English Agent” who will encourage their classmates and everyone to speak English throughout the day every day. English Agents are wearing special pins that says, “Talk to me in English”. Every two weeks, a new English Agent will be chosen, ensuring that eventually, every student will have the opportunity to take on this role.

To further immerse everyone in English, our school has designated four English Zones: the subject teacher’s room, the lobby, the playground, and the “selasar” on the second floor. In these areas, all members of this school are encouraged to speak English, regardless of the day. Our school is also supporting younger students in grades 1 and 2 with a guidance wall, featuring common classroom phrases. Weekly plans are also written in English. This challenging actions will help creating a fun and supportive environment where English is practiced both inside and outside the classroom!
